Recent Atrai Bikes Workshop in Münster helped identify fastest and safest bike routes
Atrai Bike Workshop Results
After months of dedicated effort, participating cyclists could finally see their work in action (see kick-off workshop) and were able to explore their own tracks within the newly deployed Atrai Bikes Data Platform during the recent workshop in Münster. Participants analyzed their most-ridden routes and assessed traffic safety across the city using predefined datasets that included all Atrai Bike SenseBox sensors as well as carefully curated data products derived therof. Raw measurements, such as passing distance and fine dust levels, were combined to create innovative indicators such as Danger Zones. Additional data on average speeds and waiting times at intersections revealed insights that help riders identify the fastest and safest routes around town.
From Sidewalk Science to City Strategy
A central goal of the Atrai Bikes Project is to empower citizens to take an active role in urban planning. Tools and initiatives like the Atrai Bikes platform and project help project knowledge from the pavement to the planning department. This enables people to understand traffic flow and the cycling infrastructure so they can carry their ideas from the curb to the city council and make their voices heard.
