52North @ ESRI 2011
52North presented its vision on the future of SDIs and Cloud Computing at the ESRI 2011 Future SDI Expert hearing. Different other views from research over administration to industry were presented. It turned out that SDIs still seem to be a major challenge in particular with regards to performance and availability. Cloud computing can help in this direction. Learn more…
52North @ EGU 2011
A presentation about the future directions of web-based processing was given at the EGU 2011 in Vienna. Several aspects on the horizon such as streaming workflows, metadata enrichment with uncertainty, seamless integration of (hybrid) Cloud Computing resources as computational backbone for novel Geoprocessing Services such as WPS are outlined.
Besides processing of geospatial data, a big topic at this year’s EGU ESSI session were WMS Time Viewers.
See an KNMI example here and an EUMETSAT one here.
TU Dresden has also developed a nice WMS time enabled viewer.
