This is it – the last blog post of my Google Summer of Code project. After months of coding, debugging, and even more coffee, I have finally finished migrating Kommonitor components from AngularJS to Angular. What an exciting journey it has been! At first, I was scared that the task ahead of me was too big to handle, but my outstanding mentors Christian and Sebastian were there to help and show me the ropes. Their guidance allowed me to complete this mission successfully and now the application is a hybrid one. These changes will guarantee KomMonitor’s enduring success for years to come. Here is how I migrated KomMonitor to Angular and what I learned in the process.
KomMonitor: Migration to Angular – MidTerm Blog Post
Project Overview
Welcome to our mid-term blog post, where we share exciting updates about the migration of KomMonitor to Angular. Let me provide a small overview of KomMonitor, which is the brainchild of a research project initiated at Bochum University of Applied Sciences. The current version of KomMonitor has been developed using AngularJS, which serves as a reliable foundation for its functionalities and services. Over time, it has grown to be an invaluable tool for urban planning, environmental management, disaster response, and more. By combining the power of Geographic Information System (GIS) and statistical data, KomMonitor simplifies the monitoring and analysis of geo-spatial information, enabling data-driven decision-making.
