enviroCar Platform Independent App Groundwork – Mid Term Post

Working on this project so far has been absolutely fulfilling and it feels great to work with such an awesome team. This blog post will give an overview of the state of the app as of the first evaluation of the GSoC 2021.

Introduction

The goal in mind while starting the project was to create a single mobile application that would work on both iOS and Android devices so as to extend the reach of the enviroCar app to the iOS users. Although this project looked like a mammoth task, with proper management and teamwork, we’ve come quite far from the start already.

enviroCar App for IOS Users – Update

Introduction

The project is to design a foundation for a platform-independent enviroCar app. It makes the application available to iOS users as well.

During the introductory period, I learned many new things like the BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) devices and interaction with the OBD-II adapter to read the characteristics.

Now the app has the feature to detect and connect to nearby Bluetooth devices. And the reading characteristics work pretty well with both the Bluetooth packages – the flutter_blue and flutter_reactive_ble.

Improving User Experience in enviroCar Android – Mid term Blog Post

Introduction

The project aims to lay the groundwork for a platform-independent enviroCar app since it runs only on Android devices. The aim is to make it available for iOS users as well.

enviroCar is a citizen science community that collects, shares, and analyzes floating car data for traffic management and the environment. It examines the open data and estimates the track count, average speed, relative speed, CO2 emission, fuel consumption, and hotspot analysis.
