enviroCar App: Voice Command – Midterm Blog
Introduction
The project aims to stabilize and enhance the enviroCar: Voice Command project to achieve better road safety and hands-free user experience using voice commands. As a part of Google Summer of Code 2023, my goal includes increasing the accuracy of wake word detection, stabilizing existing and adding new voice commands, creating CI/CD pipelines, and an overall increase in the user experience of the enviroCar app. You can read my earlier blog, which provides an overview of this project. This blog highlights the progress made so far and gives an insight into future plans.
Introduction to Extending and Stabilizing enviroCar App: Voice Command
Introduction
There are a lot of reasons why it is useful to have your phone with you in the car and enviroCar encourages you to do so. At the same time, it’s a potentially dangerous distraction to use your phone while driving. Interacting with the enviroCar Android app while driving is a serious concern, as it may result in an accident.
Addressing the issue, the enviroCar: Voice Command project kicked off during the Google Summer of Code 2022 with an exciting and forward-thinking vision in mind: making enviroCar a hands-free experience. The project aimed to integrate voice commands into the app, allowing users to perform actions like starting or stopping the track recorder and selecting a car through simple voice instructions. Additionally, the project introduced wake word functionalities to initiate voice commands and laid the groundwork for future enhancements.
enviroCar App for iOS users: UI for Data Privacy – Final Blog Post
Introduction
enviroCar is a citizen science community that gathers, distributes and analyses floating automobile data for traffic management and environmental purposes. The enviroCar app for mobile devices offers functions including track recording, track exploration, and track uploading as “open data” to the server for analysis. Real-time information about the recorded tracks, including their length and distance, is also provided.
