During the Google Summer of Code 2021, I will be working on laying the groundwork for the platform independent enviroCar app using Dart and Flutter SDK by Google. We have made the choice based on the fact that Flutter enables the writing of beautiful and native performance UI components in the least amount of time. It also has an ever increasing community that is constantly improving it.

During my learning phase, I was attracted to a project idea that aimed to estimate various parameters in a driving journey, such as total fuel consumed, velocity or distance travelled. After some time of research, I started working on this project idea. For reference, I tested and evaluated some of the existing apps related to collecting floating car data in Google Playstore and hosted on GitHub. After a few days, I came across the enviroCar android app. I was delighted to see that features, such as car selection,GPS tracking, and logbook were implemented. These features were quite similar to my personal project goals. This made me feel that the enviroCar is the right place to contribute and enhance my knowledge.

After 13 fun weeks of Google Summer of Code, learning about package development in R, trajectory data mining, and spatial data mining, I am happy to announce that traviz is ready for use and open source involvement. To download and install, visit traviz and follow the installation instructions detailed in the README. The package website is hosted on Github pages too at the following link. The Google Summer of Code 2020 is just about over. During the summer, I investigated improving different aspects of the enviroCar Android app. It was a very amazing learning experience. In this final blog post, I’d like to wrap up and summarize my achievements during the second half of the Google Summer of Code 2020.
