My GSoC project in 2014 is split into two important parts to better track the project’s evolution and for easier task management. For “Sensor Data Access for Rasdaman”, the two parts of the project were significantly different but aimed at the same result: to integrate Rasdaman as a data storage backend to the 52°North Sensor Observation Service (SOS) implementation. The evolution and results of the first part of the Sensor Data Access for Rasdaman project were presented in the mid-term blog post and on the project’s wiki page. The content of the wiki page contains all the weekly reports, not only the ones corresponding to the first seven weeks. This final blog post gives a brief presentation of the results of this last GSoC phase, but also provides all the resources for the project’s installation and describes some of the problems met along the way.more >
ILWIS Mobile – Final blog
This is the final blog post of the GSoC project ILWIS Mobile. The project has been introduced in this blogpost. The first period has been used to get acquainted with the tools and the programming languages and the second half to code the app.
The Gatherer app was a project of the Google Summer of Code 2014 hosted by 52°North. Rob Lemmens, Martin Schouwenburg and Bas Retsios ( ITC Enschede ) are members of 52°North’s ILWIS community and mentored this project.
Access Control UI For SOS Servers – Final Blog Post
The aim of this project is to provide administrators with a graphical user interface – the permissions editor – to restrict features and data access to an SOS instance for the defined user roles. During the second half of the project we mainly worked on the user stories and focussed on providing additional functionalities and improving the process of creating permission sets and permissions. The previous blog post contains the work conducted during the first half of the project, after which all the basic user stories were in place. Below are the resources for the project which track the status and work done:
- User stories
- Weekly Reports
- User Documentation (Project Wiki)

52°North updates licenses for WPS and XML schema bindings
In the past weeks 52°North has updated the licenses of two projects to facilitate their usage by switching over to a non-copyleft license. The project 52n-commons-xml was switched completely to the Apache Software License Version 2.0. The internal API and dependent code from the 52°North WPS project was also moved to the Apache 2.0 license. The implementation of this API, however remains under GPL v2. We hope this will allow more users to integrate our work into their architectures and source code projects. Below is a short description of why and how we did this.more >
