52°North explores the Luneburg Heath
Last month, 52°North staff held their yearly retreat – this year at Camp Reinsehlen in the Luneburg Heath. The quietude of the heath provided a perfect ambience for focussed brainstorming and relaxing walks. We wracked our brains for three days, targeting 52°North road maps and aligning common goals and strategies for 2014. A subtle move from archery to darts gave us all the opportunity to test the first Open Source Software for Darts -> yadarts! Very cool…

Today the Web serves as a universal information and communication infrastructure. We’re able to share data, documents, maps and apps based on web technologies. The efficient use of geoprocessing functionality for data analysis and presentation on the Web is an active topic in GIS science and application. The massive rise in available spatial data from mapping communities, sensor operators and public bodies has also spurred the demand by lay users and experts for readily available analysis and data processing tools. While Desktop and Workstation GIS are still widely used, there is also a trend towards sharing and reusing data processing and analysis workflows on the Web.more >
